What I included in my fall bucket list to celebrate my favorite season!

Dear Sister,

Despite so little time spent around golden leaves, crisp cool weather, and apple orchards, I love fall. I love pumpkin-flavored everything. I love cozy blankets, moody colors, and boots with skinny jeans.

Create a fall bucket list to capture the joy of the season!

If only we could capture this feeling all year.

Too often I find seasons passing away without really enjoying everything I want out of them. Be it seasons of the year or life.

So I brainstormed what might go on my fall bucket list. My goal is to be intentional about this season that I love. Embrace the season you’re in before it passes away. Want to join me?

Ideas:

  • Bake with pumpkin
  • Cinnamon broom
  • Hot cider
  • Boots
  • Leaves
  • NaNoWriMo
  • Birthday
  • Running weather
  • Bonfire
  • Butternut Squash Soup
  • Bible reading plan
  • Finish the leader class at church
  • Trip to the mountains
  • Friday night football games
  • Decorate the house: pillows, blankets, candles, wreaths
  • Decorate the classroom

Food

Do you love the flavors of fall? I love a good pumpkin bread or pie. I will definitely bake some pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. I also look forward to the temps dropping slightly and sipping warm cider on the back porch while Pepper shivers in my lap. And I’ll absolutely make some butternut squash soup.

Travel

If I could, I would spend a couple weeks or even months in the mountains soaking up the gorgeous leaves. If I can pull it off, maybe I’ll take a day trip a few hours north to peek at some pretty trees.

Events

I’m not a huge football fan. Let me edit that. I’m not a fan of football in general. But I am very proud of the school spirit my students display. I spend the home games at my high school working. I’ve discovered that this sports thing is important to a lot of people. Go ahead, add a game. Or pick something else. If you live in the right climate, go apple picking! Host a bonfire! Attend your local fall festival. Just find a seasonal way to be social and build those memories.

My birthday happens to fall in the best month for birthdays. In case you don’t know, it’s October. October is the best birthday month of all the months. So I definitely need to plan something soon.

Decorate

If you’re like me and live in a rather warm climate you have to make it feel like fall. You don’t have to be extravagant, and please don’t be tacky. Grace your table, doorstep, or mantle with a few pumpkins. Trade out your throw pillows with some with moody colors, add a few more throw blankets.

Craft

As the temps drop, I love to curl up and craft. I took up knitting this year and hope to log some knitting hours. What kind of crafts do you like? Or do you want to learn a new skill?

Personalize Your List

Some of these were specific to me and what I care about. For example, the class at my church. (Don’t you love putting things on a list you know you’ll accomplish just for the thrill of checking it off?)

Maybe you’ve been telling yourself over and over and over that you are going to start exercising. If you’re like me and enjoy workouts outside, this is a great time (weather speaking) to start training.

Write

NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, is the month of November. I’ve done it before, but couldn’t pull it together last year. I totally want to participate this year and pound out fifty thousand words of rough draft. I’m going to use this space to update you this November. I also give frequent updates on Instagram, so be sure to follow me over there. If you want to join me, I’d love to cheer you on. Or if you want to live vicariously through me, I’d love some encouraging words, likes, and shares on my posts to know you’re rooting for me!

Whatever goes on your fall bucket list, I hope you find ways to soak up the season. I’ll be posting my bucket list template in my stories over on Instagram if you want to screenshot it and repost. Don’t forget to tag me @MallaryAlderman in your stories so I can check it out!

Your sister,

Mallary
